This is like a parchment type of fungi. It covers the upper dead branches of mostly tulip trees. I have found several fungi that only grow up high on the dead wood that is still in the tree. I found this when it came crashing down in a snow storm. There are very fine small teeth on the surfaces. I placed a Drop of KOH and no reaction.
