Red brown to orange brown cap with with whitish flecks and partial veil remnants at the margin, pallid then orange brown gills, fragile fibrillose stem with white basal mycelial tufts, fruiting from under the bark of an aspen log.

Macro morphology of this collection fits Arnolds description of both T. furfuracea and T. romagnesiana in terms of coloration and velar remanants on the cap margin. Blast results indicate that this observation is not conspecific with T. furfuracea and is likely the same as a collection provisionally labeled T. romagneseiana by Antonin et al 2012. See sequencing notes.

A phylogenetic tree using sequences from Matheny et al. 2007, Antonin et al. 2012 and Ge et al. 2019. It appears from the tree that the subject is in the Tubaria furfuracea complex as described in the Matheny study and likely conspecific with what the Antonin study calls T. romagnesiana.
