Observation 297488: Mixed collection

When: 2017-10-26

Collection location: Race Woods, Coupeville, Island Co., Washington, USA [Click for map]

Who: Rand Workman (Ranmofod)

No specimen available

With the selection so rich this time of year, I decided to try out an idea that I have had for certain microenvironments:
Allowing a reasonable amount of time, locate what macro fungi lie within a 20ft. radius (1,256sq.ft.), or about 10 steps through the bush.

This “10-Step Myco-Roll Call” microenvironment is a west-facing slope above wetlands, consisting of a thick understory of ‎Polystichum munitum with scattered ‎Holodiscus discolor and Rubus spectabilis. Trees nearby are Acer macrophyllum, Alnus rubra, Salix, Tsuga heterophylla & Pseudotsuga menziesii.
