Observation 298012: Amanita flavoconia group

When: 2017-11-10

Collection location: Franklin Co., Virginia, USA [Click for map]

Who: Cody Morgan (Cody)

Specimen available

Notes:
Found under pine and mixed hardwoods

The partial veil was left clinging to the cap margin and left no discernable annular zone on the stem, this caused me alot of confusion while trying to id this collection. The volva was clinging to the surrounding leaf debris and was yellow/orange, I suspect it was white on the outside though.

Going through the similar species listed on the amanitaceae.org page for flavoconia the only species that is described as having a partial veil that clings to the cap margin is this sp.
http://www.amanitaceae.org/?Amanita+luteofusca

Is this a possible feature of flavoconia? From what ive seen/read so far it doesnt seem normal.
