Who: Cody Morgan (Cody)

Specimen available

Growing from an oak branch, there is plenty of conifer debris in the general area yet they were only growing on this piece of oak which seems odd for a sp. that prefers conifer. The only other time I have seen one of these small gymnopilus on something other than conifer was this single fruit seen here http://mushroomobserver.org/286558?q=AlIF the rest of that obs was found on conifer so its possibly a mixed collection. Strangely enough the fruit in question from that obs has an extremely similar look to the cap as the fruit from this obs.

Perhaps they are all the same, hard to say for sure without further investigation.
