Bioluminescence isn’t evidence against O. subilludens…

because there’s nothing unlikely about O. subilludens being luminescent but not explicitly recorded as such in the literature. It’s not a well-known species precisely because it’s morphologically so similar to O. illudens. If it were non-luminescent, that would be a big deal. The default here is that O. subilludens glows like the rest.

is listed as being suspected of being luminescent in the literature but not confirmed as such. more information may be needed here to secure a higher degree of confidence that this material is truly and unequivocally O. subilludens. if that information results in an ID of O. subilludens, it may be a finding worthy of formal publication.
