That’s a rather bizarre thing

for the editors of Economic Botany editors to put pressure on, especially if they were going to make one exception…

What?

Boletus regineus holotype sequence

Email from David Arora: “I looked at the MO link and agreee that new species should be published with a sequence accessible on GenBank or elsewhere. But the article was actually written in 2006 when sequences weren’t routinely included. There was also pressure from the journal, Economic Botany, not to include sequencing data (they made one exception). So no, the holotype hasn’t been sequenced to my knowledge.”

The similar sequences include KC184484. This is from a collection by Johnathan Frank cited in the Aurora & Frank Butyriboletus article.

Very similar to the 5 other Boletus regineus in GenBank.
Although this species was described in 2008, there is no sequence for the type in GenBank. Opinion: If you are describing a new species, at least provide an ITS sequence of your type specimen!
