Fishy odor (somewhat like xerampelina) at first, becoming stronger with a cerolens-like component over time. Always unpleasant.
Spores creamy white
Taste mild (not acrid) but atrocious
About 17.5 cm across at widest point, all fruitbodies deeply funnel shaped
Stipe solid (see images) and thick. Not easy to cut, but cutting cleanly when done so.
Gills easy to cut. Definitely not lactarius.
Cap moist and weakly viscid.

my only quibble with this is that I never found any that smelled like almond or maraschino, but everything else seems to fit. Some of the young ones were kind of a cinnamon scent, however, and were masked over by the malodorous larger ones
