Observation 299588: Crepidotus (Fr.) Staude

When: 2017-11-20

Collection location: Lake Sonoma, California, USA [Click for map]

Who: Melissa Ruggieri (Bethleham)

No specimen available

The area had madrone, bay laurel, redwoods, and oak trees. This tree was dying or dead and had lost all its leaves and many of it’s branches which made it hard for me to ID. The mushrooms had a nice mushroomy smell but a little nibble revealed them to have a fairly bland flavor. I did notice a brown spore print on one of the caps near it’s attachment to the tree.
