When: 2017-11-21

Collection location: Franklin Co., Virginia, USA [Click for map]

Who: Cody Morgan (Cody)

No specimen available

Growing on a slope where lots of water runs off a gravel driveway, soil is poor and is very rocky from gravel washing down. Tree line of mostly oak a few feet away. Most were found in a small ditch covered with leaves.

Odor is very strong and complex, sort of like funky vanilla mixed with woody tones and sometimes slightly floural/ sharp tones. Very difficult to put into words but is fairly pleasant compared to other inocybe.

Some bruised obvious blue/green on the lower stem and in one case the gills, others werent so obvious.

Inocybe fraudans should stain red, these do not.

Other similar variations have green squamules on the disk, these are dark brown/black over tan flesh which points to erinaceomorpha.
