shows a rather long pseudo stipe. Bessette/B/F includes Calvatia elata in “The Mushrooms of NE NA.” This one has a very long pseudo stipe (my own terminology). I found a small troop once, in a hardwood forest… to the best of my recollection, maple, birch, cherry, maybe beech. B/B/F describes the outer peridium as “granular to powdery.”
