Notes:
Dropped the ball in documenting on this one photographically. Found growing in sand/ dune/ pine barren habitat near Pitch pine- Pinus rigada. Corky, brittle, no ring noticeable. Stipe reddish near base and near gills, whitish zone near center. Gills bruising reddish. The most definitive characteristic was bright red basal mycelium. My apologies for photo quality

I proposed Russula, but then deleted the proposal…
Because, immediately after proposing the name, I looked at the observation a bit closer and wasn’t sure if the gills were pinkish from bruising or a spore drop…
But, I kind of think it has to be a Russula.
