Observation 300419: Cystoderma Fayod

When: 2017-11-18

Collection location: Sweet Valley, Pennsylvania, USA [Click for map]

Who: Dave W (Dave W)

No specimen available

Two collections here. Photos labeled ML are from Moon Lake and the habitat was near a row of pines (Scotch pine, I think). The photos labeled SV are from Sweet Valley (a few miles from Moon Lake) and the habitat is under Virginia pine.

Spores 5.5-6.5 × 3-3.5 for ML and 5.5-7 × 2.5-4 for SV. Despite the slight difference in spore dimensions, I think the two collections represent the same species.

Unfortunately, none of the photos I snapped adequately captured the characater of the cap surface. But, I don’t think it was overtly grainy.
