Notice the mushrooms lower on the log exposed to greater spore droppings on the cap – they almost look like completely different mushrooms!

Recognized by sight: Cap yellow, orange-yellow, surface bald, gills yellow turning to purple, purple-black with age, stalk slender, growing in tufts and clusters on rotten wood. Spore print obtained, color deep purple-gray.
