Decaying wood substrate. Wood/log was saturated with water. growing on the shaded or less exposed parts of log.
Cap wet/moist but not slimy, 2.5" wide at max, spherical to convex when young with enrolled margin becoming hemispherical to flat with a wavy margin at maturity.
Extremely hygrophanous and fading to tan (see dried specimen picture) then returning to orange-red/rust color with water contact.
stipe wet like the cap. translucent in younger specimens.
Spore print rusty to red-brown.
spores smooth and football shaped. tan to ochre
