Habitat: Growing in leaf litter in mixed hardwood/pine forest

Nearest_Tree: Hardwood, oak
Habit: Few
Cap/upper_surface: Largest cap, 6-7 cm diameter; low convex with depressed center; brown center, fading to light tan at margin. Cap of young mushroom, deep maroon.
Cap/underside: Gills close; attached; cream with brown staining
Milk: Very little detected. White; didn’t appear to change color
Stipe: ca. 1 cm diameter at apex, becoming wider towards base, ca. 1.5-2 cm diameter at base; curved; white near apex becoming brownish-red below; white/hairy at base.
Odor: No distinctive odor
Spore_Print: White
Spores: Subglobose with ornamentation
