When: 2017-11-30

Collection location: Franklin Co., Virginia, USA [Click for map]

Who: Cody Morgan (Cody)

Posting to record saved specimen.

Single scraggly fruit found in grass near treeline of mixed deciduous trees and pine. This particular area has been a (pet cemetery) of sorts for 15ish years with the last one buried less than 1 year ago.

Spending a typical afternoon browsing obscure hebeloma images I came across this photo

Now i understand this rare species is restricted to parts of Australia so Im not saying thats what this is, but the resemblance to that photo and growth right in the general area of a fairly recent pet grave was a pretty spooky coincidence!
