Observation 301857: Hydnobolites

Notes:
Single fruiting body found partially buried in hardwood duff and hemlock needle litter near Tsuga canadensis, Fagus grandifolia, Quercus spp. and Acer sp. Pinus strobus and Betula alleghaniensis also present in the area but further away. Other small harwdoods may have been overlooked. Odor indistinct. Accidentally broke in half while collecting. Peridium smooth. Lugol’s iodine orange-brown on gleba.
