Observation 301860: Boletales E.-J. Gilbert

Collected during the Ohio Mushroom Society’s fall foray. Found growing underneath Tolypocladium ophioglossoides observation 301858. Potential ECM hosts nearby were Fagus grandifolia and Quercus spp. but I may have overlooked other hardwoods.

I sent these to Rosanne Healy with a shipment of truffles. It turns out that these are actually tuberculate ectomycorrhizae instead. So far tuberculate ectomycorrhizae are only know to be produced by fungi in the Boletales (Rhizopogon, Suillus and Hemileccinum) AFAIK.
