of things that looked like this, and some were Lecanora thysanophora. There are other options, too. You need to look very close at these things. Sometimes the intact areoles and/or prothallus can be very subtle (even under a dissecting scope). One thing to note is that this is not typical habitat for Lepraria. It would be in moister or more sheltered habitats. The smooth bark of young trees is more typical for colonizers like Lecanora, Buellia, Biatora, Arthonia, etc.
