Observation 30261: Polyporus badius (Pers.) Schwein.

When: 2009-12-12

Collection location: Saint Louis Co., Missouri, USA [Click for map]

Who: Rob (gourmand)

No specimen available

Notes:
Was spongy, sort of woody and tough, even though it looked like a flesh mushroom from a distance. I couldn’t find anything like it in the books.

I tried to take a spore print but it didn’t seem to drop any. It may have some white residue on the pores, as you can see in the picture, indicating a white spore print. Hard to say.
