Recognized by sight: Bolete

Recognized by sight: For whatever reason, the populations here seem to be unusually brown-capped, but there are a few similarly colored observations. The pores generally end up a little reddish, the top scratches blackish and the flesh stains blue. In a few photos, some redder blotches on caps are seen. The pores were harder to bruise than typical for this species, but that may be a result of specimen conditions. B. erythropus sensu Thiers might be another possibility if the caps and pores fit poorly. Maybe there are cryptic Suillellus? Specimens were either fragile, very old, or full of maggots.
