Collection location: Los Trancos Preserve, Palo Alto, California, USA [Click for map]
Covering a whole side of a smallish stump, most like coast live oak, perhaps California bay laurel.
Spores 4.5-6 × 3-3.5. Basidia 20-25 × 5.5-6.5, both 2-spored and 4-spored. Generative hyphae 3.5-4.5 thick. Some hyphal ends enlarged/capitate. Skeletal hyphae not observed.
Basidia seem too big for S. paradoxa. Presence of 2-spored basidia seems unusual for the genus. [Ginns, Polypores of British Columbia]
