It is on granitic blocks in semi-shadow of pine-tree forest. Whitish or light grey spots are mainly 10-20cm length and usually without any concentric zonality. Apothecia have a shape of white cups (black inside). Sometimes apothecia partially have complex radial structure but without rectangular cells as Aspicilia cinerea has.
NaClO 5-8% test makes very weak yellowish tint or nothing and weak brown colouring of apothecia.
KOH 20% tests make yellow colouring turned fast into yellow-brown, then over 4 minutes into red-brown as old blood.
