Observation 317427: Sarcodes sanguinea Torr.

When: 2018-05-26

Collection location: Silver Fork Campground, El Dorado National Forest, California, USA [Click for map]

Who: Pgrunow

No specimen available

Appears to be immature Sarcodes (Rhizopogon parasite)
that were just starting to push up to the surface. Very hard and smooth surface, ice-like, just barely beginning to get color.
There were full grown red snow plants seen as well.
Opinions welcome.
