This was my closest match for features. It was a busy weekend, so I did not get a spore print for this, unfortunately!
Growing in leaf litter beneath hardwoods on the side of a ridge in a dense mixed hardwood/coniferous forest. Tissues stained brown in multiple spots. Pilei moist/slightly slimy (possibly from recent rain)?
There were some clear to white droplets between the gills (along with discoloration of tissues), so I am guessing Lactarius argillaceifolius? Please do correct me (with an explanation) or make suggestions if I am wrong!
