It eliminates the amycorrhizal group (subsect. Vittadiniae), A. hesleri (an isolated species in current thinking), the group with limbate or marginate bulbs (small, subsect. Limbatulae), and subsect. Gymnopodae (restricted to east Asia, Australia, and Central America).
