If the microscope doesn’t have a good depth of field, the pictures will often be better with a lower magnification (That is if the camera has lots of megapixels, so the picture can be magnified instead).
With my equipment I get the best sharpness at 400×..

I have a really weak bulb in my scope, and my camera is already on the light filtration setting which has the most exposure, it has little for personal settings and most of it is automatic which im not able to set. that’s also as clear as I can get my scope to focus on ornaments anyways, I cant even see texture on the edges of spores.

When taking pictures through the microscope they turn out better if you set the color balance to “tungsten”.
