Observation 31944: Dermatocarpon miniatum (L.) W. Mann

Locality: 29°16’28.21"N, 103°17’12.18"W, el. 1745-2170 m

Substrate and habitat: Growing on rocks in an open woodland of piñon, juniper, and oak.

Identification: Two species of Dermatocarpon are recorded from the park:
miniatum (undersurface smooth, without rhizines; widespread)
moulinsii (undersurface with many rhizines; at the highest elevations, including Boot Springs and Emory Peak)

Common name: common stippleback
