Navy blue mushroom found growing on the side of Highway 128 in a Coast Redwood forest, in close proximity to the Navarro River. It was about 3" in height, and the cap was slightly over 1" in diameter. The color was darker in person, the camera flash washes it out.

A very distinctive species

that looks very similar to the European E. uranochroum. For now, I call it E. aff. uranochroum, but it has differently shaped cheilocystidia. I have many specimens of it from the UCSC Campus, but it is not common every year.
