Notes:
On old wood ranch fence on coastal foothills just east of the City of Morro Bay, along Highway 1.
Thallus well developed, dark gray, of convex areoles. Apothecia deeply sessile, black, epruinose, irregularly shaped, convex, without thalline margin. Epihymenium K+V. Couldn’t get C+ but POL+ crystals indicate gyrophoric acid is present in at least a low concentration. Asci broadly clavate, short.
Spores hyaline, simple to 1(2) septate. Never 3 septate, often curved. Average size 8.8×2.6 (n=4).
Occurs with Lecanora simeonensis (observation 320125) and many others.
