On trunk base of a large Monterey Cypress tree near the ocean.

Thallus rather well developed, areolate, white with diffuse orange in some places, but most orange is from apothecia initials. Pycnidia not seen. Apothecia crowded, medium orange, matte, finely orange-pruinose, becoming convex. Thalline margin initially dominant, thick, puffy and concolorous with thallus, becoming quickly reduced. Proper margin becoming dominant, lighter than disk, but thin and reduced in age, with diffuse orange pigment spreading around edge of apothecia so occasionally the rims look all orange-ish.

Spores average size 13.2×6.5 with isthmus 5.8 (n=10).
