I think Boletaceae is probably the best moniker at this time. The overall morphology seems to point out to a diverse group represented by taxa in Boletellus s.l., Hortiboletus and perhaps Xerocomellus. After many years of “torturing” boletes, I still cannot identify species from that cluster of genera to save my life. :-(

but it wasn’t my specimen, someone else took it, so I missed the opportunity to further torture it :-(
