Observation 321924: Agaricus bernardi Quél.

When: 2018-07-03

Collection location: Kearny Mesa, San Diego Co., California, USA [Click for map]

Who: Cindy Trubovitz (Trubo)

Specimen available

Notes:
Growing in wood chip planter in commercial area. Reddish bruising on stipe, veil material and base. Pleasant mushroom odor. No significant reddish (or yellow) of interior stipe or flesh when sliced. Very weak yellow reaction of interior stipe when NaOh applied (see photo). Other A. bernardi I’ve seen in the past have reddish bruising of stalk interior and distinct briny odor so this one is somewhat atypical if it is bernardi.
