Collection location: Hunlock Creek, Pennsylvania, USA [Click for map]

Who: Dave W (Dave W)

No specimen available

Notes:
Went for a walk outside my home and spotted this little guy in an oak/hemlock woods about twenty feet away from the road. At first I though it may be one of the small Caesars. But the cap lacks marginal striations. Also, short gills are tapered.

With so much color variation for solaniolens, it’s difficult to believe this name does not actually represent a group of different taxa. This one is completely white, with the exception of a very pale watery-gray disc.

Will confirm section once some spores drop.
