Notes:
Growing among moss and leaf litter on a ridge top near Quercus alba, Quercus rubra, Sassafras albidum, Cornus sp., Acer rubrum, Fagus grandifolia, Carpinus caroliniana, Prunus serotina and Carya ovata. Some fruiting bodies infected with Hypomyces cervinigenus observation 321993. Asci 8-spored with uniseriate spores. Paraphyses with clavate tips. Spores fusoid and smooth. Spore measurements from Piximetre: (17.7) 18.4 – 22.7 (25.1) × (10.2) 10.4 – 11.3 (12) µm, Q = (1.6) 1.7 – 2.2 (2.3); N = 19, Me = 20.7 × 11 µm; Qe = 1.9
