An immature fb that just broke through the surface. The actual colors are closer to those in the title photo (taken with a flash) than to the colors in the second photo (no flash + greenish tones from tree canopy). Note lack of the yellow-brown pigment on the disk — the color there is creamy-gray.
I left this mushroom undisturbed. I might come back in a couple of days to harvest it, provided squirrels and slugs don’t get to it before me.
