Under hardwoods. Old name was Gyromitra brunnea. Older name was Helvella underwoodii. Current name might be G. fastigiata which the site won’t accept as it was also used for what is now. G. korfii.

It appears that Discina is nested within Gyromitra as per the reference I cited in my proposal. Yes, it’s only a single-gene tree (nrLSU), so more genes and a bigger sampling of species from Discina are needed to lend more support to this hypothesis.
