one (presumed) L. cristata fruit body first observed on 8-8 has changed color from a uniform light brown to brown with area of yellow obs 327275. Not far from the original observation I later found a bunch with bright yellow rough/cracked cap surfaces obs 328980. I think these are all L. cristata.

But, yours Walt (as you say) looks like something different.

of one L. cristata (at least I think this is the ID). Today I got my third photo spanning an eleven day period; will add to obs 327275 later tonight.

As you say Walt, the color varies from brown to yellow… over time for a single fruit body. Found what I think are a bunch more of the same today (same general location), and these were bright yellow on the upper surface, dingy whitish to greenish-yellow beneath (will post). But, haven’t seen this (new to me) species with the creamy white to beige caps like what is seen in your photo.

Laeticutus cristata is not uncommon at a couple of parks I visit. I believe this to be something else. This lacks the brown and yellowish green colors.

is much lighter than obs 327275, but otherwise the fruit bodies are similar. First time I’ve ever seen this.
