Observation 328556: Lepiota (Pers.) Gray

Growing scattered on forest floor, mixed pine, oak, birch. Caps 2-6 cm, pale yellow to cream background with darker brownish gold scales and a solid spot in the middle of the same scale color. Tufted edges. Stipe 5-9 cm long x 3-7 mm thick, concolorous with cap, shaggy, with fragile annulus visible on some. Bruises a rusty color. Base a bit swollen on some, with thin white rhizomorphs. Gills free, close to crowded, white, stain rusty as they age. Odor not distinctive. Spore print white. No cystidia observed. Spores dextrinoid, subfusiform, 11-13 × 4-5.
