1st of 2 fruiting bodies. I am going to create a separate observation for the 2nd one.
I am not sure of this ID as it is another northern bolete that I stumbled on and have never seen before. I compared it to Boletus spadiceus var. gracilis (as it was suggested to me) but that has apparently been deprecated to Boletus ferrugineus.
Redish cap. Pores dingy yellow and not staining when bruised. Stipe nearly equal or tapered slightly narrower downward. Coarsely reticulate. Basal mycelium whiteish. Flesh of cap and stipe not bluing but 1 specimen sort of turned a very faint pinkish after about 5 minutes. No remarkable odor or flavor.
