The book is going to be of big help. It will get you to both genus and species, though some of the generic taxonomy and nomenclature there is already obsolete. But for that we have MO and other online resources. Many boletes are unique in the way they look, but there are difficult groups, too, and more research is needed to unravel their mysteries. Make sure to use the keys in the opening section of the book — they do work. Good luck!

Igor, Thanks

for your help. Finally, today I am ordering the bolete book. That is way past due. Maybe that will be of help. I found so many pored mushrooms on the 30th of August. Some were very large and other very small fruiting in moss. Have no ideas on those. The book should help me at least getting to the correct genus. Appreciate your taking time to look at my observation.. Sylvia
