It seems to me that there are many different lat/longs on your “Baton Rouge” collections. One day I looked at several of the lat/longs and they seemed to be spread around the city…I thought you were recording locations methodically. Maybe it is metadata that is being used.
“LOUISIANA—East Baton Rouge Parish – Baton Rouge, Louisiana State University [30.4086º N/ 91.1832º W, 7 m], 10.vii.2017 Logan Wiedenfeld s.n. [mushroomobserver #278311] (RET 802-10, nrITS & nrLSU seq’d.).”
… that the coordinates are accurate. I’m not sure how the lat/long function works on MO, but I do know that I’ve never specified an exact site. Perhaps I should start doing so. When I type in “Baton Rouge,” MO automatically selects a lat/long. I don’t see a logic to the spread of coordinates around town (which makes me think that the coordinates have nothing to do with the metadata of the pics I upload).
That said, while I can’t recall with certainty that the material you have hails from this site, at least a couple of these observations, including the most recent one, occurred at a park (Forest Community Park) near my home. They fruit in several places at the park, though the ones I’ve photographed fruit under some oaks adjacent to the walking path.
Can you tell me which site these represent?
But there’s a good chance the material of mine that you have was collected at this same site, for what it’s worth.
The second is my favorite.
I have these web site rules…to use one of the photos, I have to have a specimen from the group in my collection.
Did you happend to dry one or more of this grouping?
