It was growing on the side of my compost pile in well rotted wood chips & horse manure. The large Cup is 11×8 cm wide 5 cm tall

Looks a lot like what David Arora described as a species novum Peziza in Mushrooms Demystified. Also closely resembles some of the truffle-like fungi like Genea and Genabea. Need more information on where found, size, and whether it expands further than shown in the photos.
