Observation 335809: Boletus gertrudiae Peck

Notes:
This impressively-sized youngish specimen was brought in for identification to NJMA’s Fungus Fest at the FA. I don’t know where it came from, but it was likely from NJ. It could have been collected the day before.
The mushroom is 20 cm (8") tall. The hemispherical cap is 9 cm wide (the diameter of the circle circumscribed by the margin) and 2 cm thick above the stipe. The tubes are 1.8 cm deep max. The stipe is 18 cm long, 2.8 cm wide at the flaring apex, narrowing to 1.6 cm midway and expanding to 1.9 cm in the base.
