I was curious enough about this one to post on the FB Amanita group

Rod Tulloss had this to say: "With the membranous limb near the base of the stem, I’d guess that this might be one of the species to which the name “gemmata” might be applied on the west coast. It iappears neither muscarioid nor pantherinoid. The cap color, the time of year, and the form of the volva greatly reduce the possibility that this is A. aprica. Maybe this post will start off a discussion."

I’ll note that Alan gave ID suggestions before I added more photos from the next day when I dug it up showing base, skirt, etc.
