These cannot be Calvatia bovista

as the spores are very spiny while those of C. bovista are almost smooth.
I’ve added a couple more micro photos of the spores and capillitium. The capillitium is not branched and appears not to have any pores or slits.

Added photos of spores @ 1000X in 1%KOH.

While they were about the right size, globose, ~ 5-5.5 microns , they were very spiny which is contrary to the couple of references i’ve seen(?).
Not sure what else they might be.

Haven’t check for spores yet.
