Growing on insect pupae buried in moss. Very small (see photos). Typical Quinault lowland rain forest habitat (see photo). Hemlock, sitka spruce, Doug fir, big leaf and vine maple. Collected pupae as well as fungal specimen. Specimen prepared for DNA analysis. Immediately stained solution orange. Bill Sheehan accompanying the group of collectors immediatley identified the specimen as likely Cordyceps.
