Observation 33811: Jafnea Korf

When: 2010-02-16

Collection location: Annadel State Park, Sonoma Co., Santa Rosa, California, USA [Click for map]

Who: Ron Pastorino (Ronpast)

No specimen available

These were growing on the ground around Doug. fir debris and looked like some common Peziza. However, they all had a rather curious little double stem fused at the bottom with a hole in between. Only one can be seen in the first photo but essentially all of them had this peculiar trait.
The spores were approx. 15-23 X 14.0-15.8 microns. A number of them seemed to be easily crushed and show cuts ( in Congo Red).
Could not find any matches so far.
