Mixed hardwoods. Fruiting body: top 5.3 cm across; pores: 2-3/mm, pore layer 1 mm; stalk just under 2.5 cm in diameter, 7.8 cm above ground; black section and broken root were below ground where it seemed to be attached to wood; portion of fruiting body above ground was soft and easily sliced; no pronounced odor.
Spores: (7.8) 8.3 – 10.2 × 3.5 – 4.2 microns.
The appearance and measurements of the fruiting body appear to fall within the extreme measurements of P. radicatus, but the spores are substantially smaller than listed limits.
